We love how many locally owned businesses we have throughout Plymouth and we are SO excited to welcome another amazing new business to town, Snatched Beauty Bar! Located at 43 Samoset St, Snatched is a new beauty salon offering professional makeup application, spray tans, skin care, waxing and lash & eyebrow services!
Snatched is owned and operated by Ashley Mcguire, a local Plymouth resident! Ashley has been doing makeup for many years and has always been enamored with what could be done with it!
Ashley tells us, "I've been doing makeup as long as I can remember, like even back in 3rd and 4th grade. I struggled with my skin when I was younger so I was always raiding my moms makeup bag playing with concealer & foundations to hide my acne. Skincare became something I was very passionate about as I tried to understand my own skin. It wasn't until I was doing a friends makeup and she asked me 'why don't you make this your life?' that I even thought of it as something more than a hobby. I graduated from Aesthetics school in April of 2018 and everything has fallen into place since."
The salon is welcoming, bright and airy! A place where you can truly relax. Whether you're there to get your eyebrows shaped or get a beautiful glow on your skin with a spray tan, you'll feel right at home and comfortable!
"To be totally honest, I still don't feel like I own a salon, I feel like I own a cute little girly house where my girlfriends come over to chat and laugh & leave feeling great." - Ashley states.
Q+A:
How has business been since you opened? It looks like you have a strong following!
"I feel like I'm literally living a dream right now. Business has been great but more importantly I'm having SO much fun and all of my clients (new & old) have been AMAZING. I told myself if I had 5 appointments that entire week it would be a good first week for me. I ended up with 30 appointments that week. Two of those clients came in for the first time for one service & came back within a day or two for another. And now they're all coming back with their friends. I've been so lucky to gain some amazing clients since I opened and I miss them all so much. I cant wait to have the studio back open & get back to seeing all of them."
Have you always wanted to own a salon?
"I've always loved the thought of a mom & pop style Sephora store but didn't necessarily picture myself owning a salon. As a makeup artist my days were getting too hectic traveling from client to client so I needed a home-base. I've worked at Mirbeau Spa in Plymouth since I first became an aesthetician. As I thought more and more about opening a spot for makeup it only made sense to add my other services as well."
What is your most popular service so far?
"Hands down the most popular service has been the Brow Goals Brow Wax. Getting your brows waxed feels like such a chore. I wanted to add something to my menu to spice it up a little bit. At first I wasn't sure how it would go over but people have been LOVING it. The Brow Goals Brow Wax consists of a 24kt gold under eye mask to help with any puffiness, discoloration or dryness. While that is on your brows are shaped & waxed. I use a jade roller to add a cooling touch & calm the skin which reduces any redness. Your brows are concealed & filled in so they look amazing before you leave. And it's topped off with a scalp massage to end the treatment. It's definitely not your quick in and out brow wax but that's fine by me. I'm such a perfectionist so I like to be able to take my time & make sure every hair is where it looks best."
What types of products do you offer to purchase?
"I carry a line of candles which smell amazing. They're called Soy Solutions and made by my friend Brandy. I always have one lit in the studio. I also carry a CBD line called Budder Me Up which is made by my friend Samantha. She makes lotions, chap sticks, massage oil, muscle rubs and more. I've also recently started carrying a jewelry line made by a woman in Boston, it's called Stephie Chic. I have necklaces, bracelets, headbands & more. The skincare line I use for my facials is a line called One Love Organics. I wanted to introduce my clients to a line they hadn't heard of before so I stocked my shelves with their products because I knew they were going to want it for at home. I've also been having so much fun designing logo wear & Snatched apparel."
